Salt Spring in Level 3 Drought

The Province has raised the drought level for Salt Spring Island to Level 3. A press release was issued urging coastal British Columbian’s to conserve water.

During a Level 3 drought, the provincial drought response plan calls for a voluntary 30%  reduction in water consumption.

Both the lack of rain and extremely hot weather reduce the water available from St. Mary and Maxwell Lakes. The NSSWD asks that everyone reduce water use as much as possible to ensure there is an adequate supply for the next few months.
